Visual Elements is a value-added manufacturer of custom retail fixtures, components and visual merchandising products based in Toronto.  We work closely with designers and architects to create superior quality consumer environments and develop new products and finishes to meet the demands of a globally competitive retail sector. From full retail environments to a store fixture to retail shelving to a simple visual display, our custom fixtures become part of the retail environments of some of the most prestigious retailers worldwide.

This team member is accountable for the preparation of all approved design/detail drawing information for production via Bill of Materials and Work orders/Masters for production.  At the completion of this apprentice program, you will be placed in a full time position within the engineering department.  As the Engineering Apprentice, you will be responsible for:

  • Create Bills of Materials and Master’s for manufactured product in Visual system.
  • Maintain and update revisions to B.O.M’s and Master’s in Visual.
  • Select the manufacturing operations and estimate durations based on the detailed drawings.
  • Select the manufacturing sequence (Routing) for the highest efficiency and lowest cost.
  • Verify the raw materials, hardware, specific outside manufacturing services and assign them to parts in Bill of Material / Master.
  • Create work orders based on technical / manufacturing drawings provided for production and ensure accurate Bill of Materials and Master’s.
  • Work with Engineer/Detailer to ensure that the most efficient use of fabrication details and processes are used to maximize production flow, overall product quality and cost efficiency.

 

THE SKILLSET:

  •  Accuracy of B.O.M. & Master documents for production.
  • Efficient use of fabrication materials to maximize production flow, overall product quality and cost efficiency.
  • Timeline of submissions to production should be done in a quick timeframe.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Experience with ERP systems would be ideal; ability to quickly learn and grasp new software.
  • A positive attitude toward teamwork and strong relational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
